South Mountain Park/Preserve
Often referred to as the nation’s largest municipal park, it boasts 51 miles of trails for horseback riding, hiking and mountain biking for all ability levels.
North Mountain Area
At 2,104 feet, North Mountain is a landmark Phoenix peak. The area offers summit climbs and trails of all levels of difficulty.
Camelback Mountain – Phoenix
Sheer red sandstone cliffs and its telltale hump draw thousands of hikers each year. The summit trails are strenuous climbs over sometimes-tricky trails.

Biking Trails
Apache Trail – Superstition Mountains to Roosevelt Dam
Though the ride is long, the scenery is great and road surface is smooth. It's about 25 miles east of Apache Junction. Tread: Maintained dirt road.
Charles M. Christiansen Memorial Trail 100 – Phoenix Area
North Mountain Preserve is a very popular destination for bikers, hikers, and equestrians. Nestled in the middle of Phoenix, the park is surrounded by neighborhoods. Trail Surface: Singletrack.
Desert Classic Trail – Phoenix Area
This well-named trail is a delightful cruise along the foothills of South Mountain. The route lies in the narrow corridor of desert foothills between the suburbs of Chandler, in south Phoenix. Tread: Singletrack.
